✅ ½ tsp Garam Masala

For the Tadka (Tempering):

✅ 2 tbsp Ghee
✅ 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
✅ 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
✅ 2 Dry Red Chilies
✅ 4-5 Garlic Cloves – Finely chopped
✅ ¼ tsp Asafoetida (Hing)
✅ 1 tsp Kasuri Methi (Dried Fenugreek Leaves)
✅ 2 tbsp Fresh Coriander – Chopped
✅ 1 tsp Lemon Juice (Optional)

Step-by-Step Recipe

Step 1: Cooking the Dal

1️⃣ Wash the toor dal and moong dal thoroughly and soak them for 15-20 minutes.
2️⃣ In a pressure cooker or pan, add the dal along with water, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt.
3️⃣ Pressure cook for 3-4 whistles (or boil in a pot until soft and mushy).
4️⃣ Once cooked, mash the dal slightly for a creamy consistency. Set aside.

Step 2: Preparing the Masala

1️⃣ Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pan, add chopped onions, and sauté until golden brown.
2️⃣ Add ginger-garlic paste and cook until the raw smell disappears.
3️⃣ Stir in the chopped tomatoes and green chili. Cook until the tomatoes turn soft.
4️⃣ Add garam masala and mix well.

1️⃣ In a small pan, heat 2 tbsp ghee.
2️⃣ Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dry red chilies, and asafoetida. Let them splutter.
3️⃣ Add chopped garlic and sauté until golden brown.
4️⃣ Crush kasuri methi between your palms and add to the tadka.
5️⃣ Pour this tempering over the dal and mix well.

Step 4: Garnishing and Serving

✅ Add fresh coriander leaves and a splash of lemon juice for extra flavor.
